• Chapter 7
    Luna

I hated how Lauri always pulled me into things, like last year she set me up on a blind date with a fifty-seven year old guy, who perhaps said he was twelve.

I followed after Lauri, hearing the clicking of her heels. My nose went up, it was obivous I grimaced.

    Beep Beep

Lauri and I turned our heads backward to see a gray van pull up beside us. I saw a boy with gold wind blown hair, jump out of the van, followed up by a boy with striped red hair.

My eyes widened as I relized who it was. Will's hair looked glossy, like one of the magezines that Lauri reads. He was wearing a black coat with blue jeans.

I felt stupid that moment I had dressed up this much. Then I changed by mind once I looked at Jack. Jack didn't even bother to brush his teeth, or wash his hands.

Jack only wore a plain t-shirt from the show Family Guy he wore blue jeans also, but they were tore up.

"Hey Lauri, Luna." Will greeted. I looked down, I felt his stare at me.

"Well, let's go then!" Lauri ran inside the van, taking the right seat behind the front right seat.

"Ooh, looks like my date is all crazy tonight." Jack laughed, running after her and jumping in the left seat beside her.

"Date?" I looked at Will questionly.

"I'll tell you later." Will ran inside the gray van, sliding over on the left so that I could sit on the right.

I blinked gratefully at him. It was better to be his date, then be Jack's, but one question remained in my head.

    Did Lauri know this?

I tapped my foot lightly on the carpet of the van, watching Lauri and Jack play Will's Mario Cart Wii on the screen.

Lauri was Daisy and Jack was Luigi. I held back a giggle. Lauri seemed so happy. I felt sad for some reason. I glanced at Will, who was intently watched them play.

I felt a stab of guilt as I saw Will look at me with those deep cloudy eyes.

Would you give up your best friend?

We arrived later. I hardly noticed that Will's dad had been trying to talk to us the whole time.

"Have fun you kids, we'll pick up up at ohh.. seven ish, eight ish? Sound good?" Will's dad prompted.

Will's dad was one of the suck up kinds of people. He just wanted us to like him, besides. Lauri could be his son's future girl friend.

I had a random thought of that being me, I pushed it away.

    "Sure Dad." Will replied.

Jack had budged before Lauri, jumping down to hold his hand for Lauri. Lauri smiled, taking it politely and stepping down.

Ugh. I better get Lauri to wash her hands.

Will stepped down before me too, holding out his hand.

I pushed it away, stepping down by myself. Lauri gave me a puzzled look.

Would you give up someone you care about, for someone to love?

When we all stepped in loud music was playing, all ages of kids, eleven to eighteen. I almost ran into someone short.

"I'll go request a song, you coming with me, Lauri?" Jack looked at his date.

Lauri shook her head, long brown curls shaking in a veil. Twining her arm into Will's, who's hand was in his pocket. "No I'm sorry, I'll stay with Will."

I looked at Lauri. Almost happy I was going with dirty boy.

"Wait, Lauri." Will said suddenly. "How about you go catch up with Jack, why I catch up with Luna, sound good?"

    "Sure, sweety!"

The last thing that tore out my heart, and stomped on it, was what Lauri just did. When Jack had looked away, Lauri had stole a kiss from Will.

Will's hand had been in his pocket's of his blue jeans. His hands didn't reach her face in time to stop her.

My heart felt like it exploded in my chest, and went up through my throat, and out my mouth, and it was laying there, still beating slowly.

All the blood in my face when down to my jaw, which held open. My face was pale, almost pure white. All the color gone.

Lauri looked at me and winked one of those "I got what I wanted." winks and ran off with Jack.

I turned, stepping slowly to a table, using my arms to support myself. I felt like I had no legs, they had disappeared from right under me.

I felt Will's grip on my arm, I shook it off, sitting down. My color was finnaly returning to my face.

    "Are you okay..Luna?"

My hard gaze flickered over to Will and softened. His gold hair hung in large clumps all over his face.

I closed my eyes and took a deep breath.

    "Are you okay.....Luna?"

I opened my eyes, his face was a couple inches from mine. I pushed my chair back, making a crr noise.

Would you give up the only person who actually reached out to you?

    "No I won't.." I stammered.

    "You won't what?"

Would you? He seems willing to give up everything for me, but am I willing enough to do that too? With not many things I had, I actually care about?

"I won't let you trick me." I hissed at him, getting up.

I could see Jack's russled red hair from the old Jukebox, were he and Lauri had crowded around, picking out a song.

Will got up in motion with me. "Lauri loves you, I don't." I said flatly, the word don't got caught in my throat.

I loved Lauri like a sister, I won't lose her to some guy who thinks he can just move in on my life!

"But I don't love Lauri.. I lo-." Will started.

I squealed loudly, the music kept playing. Some heads turned to look at us, others kept dancing.

"I'm leaving, now." I hissed, walking past him and the Jukebox were Lauri and Jack were. Lauri didn't look up. She was too happy.

"I'll walk you home, I'll call my dad and tell him to pick up those two, I can stay for supper with your fami-." Will chased after me.

I whipped around from him, hot, burning tears streaming from my eyes.

"Thats what I hate about you, Will. You always change the world to your liking, you never think about how it will affect other people."

My words hurt Will, I could see it in his deep eyes.

I left in a hurry, running out the door. I was glad I wore sneakers, and I was in the National Track Team.

I ran in a motion, my feet changing as I said right left in my mind.

I ran to my house, shut the door and locked it. Running up to my room without greeting my parents. I collasped on my bed.

    Thats when I heard a ding-dong.
