- I never really thought about life. If you don’t think about it, then you are nothing in the eyes of society. That is how I was. I wandered throughout the streets and then one day, I was rescued by a handsome king. He told me that his name was Vangoff. I told him that I owed him my life as a repayment for his kindness. He gave a loud chuckle and told me his dark secret. He, Vangoff, was a vampire. I was shocked at first but I learned to adjust. He always told me to eat well and to keep myself healthy. I never knew the reason why but after a year of serving him he gave me his answer. I was told to come to the throne room. I entered the throne room and I realized it was just me and him. My heart was beating as I stepped closer to him. When I reached his throne, I kneeled before him and said, “You called Master Vangoff?” He smiled and patted my head. He said to me, “Come closer my dear.” I leaned in closer because curiosity got the better of me. He leaned in as well with his lips touching my neck. He kissed it and I involuntary let out a shiver. He bared his fangs and pierced my neck. I almost screamed but he covered my mouth. I didn’t know what was going on. But then, I felt a trickle go down my neck. My eyes widened as I realized what ran down my neck. Blood. My own blood. He finished up and licked the blood from his lips smiling. My hand automatically went to my neck thinking I was still bleeding. But there wasn’t an open wound where he bit me. I started to feel light-headed. “Your blood is the sweetest that I’ve ever tasted my dear. What is your name, child?” he asked me. For a moment, I had forgotten my own name. I thought about it and muttered out, “Anya.” He smiled and said, “Welcome to this world, Anya.” I nodded and passed out. I was told that he caught me as I fell to the ground. When I woke up from my slumber, I found myself in a gown. Vangoff came into the chamber I was in and sat at the foot of the bed where I was lying in. I crawled over to his side and asked, “What happened to me? I’m not feeling hungry, tired, or anything. I’m just thirsty.” He patted my head smiling and said, “You are a new being my dear. You are like me. A vampire.” While he was talking, I was eyeing his neck and from what he said my eyes glowed orange. He smiled and said, “Drink from me if that is your wish.” I tackled him sinking my new fangs into his neck. He laughed as I tasted his delicious blood. After awhile he pried my fangs from his neck. “I can’t have you draining me dry, child.” He stood up and took my hand leading me into a corridor downstairs. “I have some prisoners that will hopefully satisfy your thirst.” He said leading me down the corridor. My mouth watered with, not spit, but venom. The more I thought about the prisoners, the thirstier I got. Instinctively, I let out a low growl. Vangoff chuckled and opened the door to where the prison was. “Now go feed Anya. I’ll send my oldest son, Kalen, to come get you,” he told me. He then pushed me inside the prison and closed the door when he left, leaving me alone with the prisoners. The doors of their cells opened and the prisoners charged toward me. My eyes glowed orange and I attacked the prisoners mercilessly. Their blood was not as delicious as Vangoff’s blood but it satisfied my thirst. The prisoners’ screams excited me more and I started to torture them even more. After an hour, I was sucking on the last person’s blood when a tall figure came into the prison. “Hurry up maggot. My father wants to see you.,” he said to me coldly. I got up and examined myself. I was covered in blood and my hair was a wreck. I didn’t worry about it and followed the tall figure that I guessed was Kalen because of Master Vangoff’s promise. When we got to the throne room, he stopped me and got a handful of my hair. He pulled my hair downward causing me to fall to the ground on my knees. “Who do you think you are? Some sort of princess!” he yelled with incredible force. I curled up in a ball and cringed as he yelled. Kalen got infuriated and slapped me with such a force that it knocked me to the ground on my side. Kalen took me by the hair and dragged me into the throne room. He threw me across the floor and then I reached Master Vangoff’s feet. “Never make me do that again, Father,” he said leaving the throne room. I bowed before him and said, “Forgive me Master Vangoff for coming in with such a rude manner.” Master Vangoff lifted me up and laughed. “Don’t worry about him. He’s just grumpy that he doesn’t have such a lovely servant like you,” he said. All I could do is nod. He laughed once more and said to me, “Keep an eye on the cemetery. Never go alone. One of our mortal enemies lurks within its shadows. If you do travel near there, inform me of this and I will send a guard with you.” He grabbed me by the neck gently and sank his fangs into my neck to drink of my blood once more before letting me go. He dismissed me and I went to look for my chamber since I was now his servant. I searched for a long time until I ran into Kalen once again. He glared at me and then punched me into a wall. “Do you think of yourself as a princess? Well you are sadly mistaken. YOU ARE A DISGRACE TO VAMPIRES LIKE YOU!” he bellowed out, shaking the walls near us. I fell to my knees trembling. He smirked as he smelled my fear. “I see Father has had his drink from you. I wonder about the taste of your blood,” he whispered as he leaned closer and closer to me. I curled into a ball and backed away into a wall. He chuckled and grabbed my neck keeping me still. If it weren’t for the fact that he had his hand on my neck, I would have screamed. He sank his fangs roughly into my neck and started drinking my blood. I felt a trickle go down my neck but it felt like a bigger gush of blood come out. When he had finished drinking my blood, he licked my neck and licked the blood from his lips. I saw his face and he looked satisfied. “Your blood is quite delicious. I will be seeing you more often and maybe just maybe I could ask Father if I could keep you,” he said to me as he started to walk away. When he left I trembled once more and my hand went to my neck. Blood was slightly trickling down my neck. I shuddered at the thought of having Kalen for a Master.
