(Ch6)***(The 2nd Term)
The first term passed by quickly and soon it was winter and the second term, which was when Kiki’s puppies were due. Finally, one cold, winter morning the puppies arrived.
“Awww, they’re so cute. I so do not know which one to pick.” Alaya said as she looked at the puppies. An almost black puppy slowly walked over to her. Alaya decided that she liked that one. She named the puppy Angel because she had a little white circlet on her forehead. Soon after that the bell sounded so they had to go to their class, History of Ghosts.
*
As soon as they left Becca slowly crept into the room. She took a quick look at the puppies and gave Kiki a quick pat before she quickly left for her class.
*
“This class is so much fun,” Justin called over to Alex and Artemis. “ Inviso and go Fly is the best game ever. I wish that we had this class all day and all year.”
“You said it bro.” Alex and Artemis called back as they disappeared from view. “Look out flyer at ten o’clock by the way” Justin quickly thanked them and disappeared from view just as this girl that Alaya had told him about flew over a wall. Mistletoe, wasn’t that her name? Oh well at least she couldn’t see him. Or so he thought. As Justin thought about Alaya he came back into view and was caught.
Oh bother, he thought upset. I lost my focus, again. This is the third time this class. I wonder why I keep on thinking about Alaya? And also why is she avoiding me? Ever since she met that Mairi girl I haven’t seen that much of her. Justin quickly launched himself into the air after Artemis as he caught sight of him peering around a small wall.
“Got cha!”Justin yelled triumphantly tagging him. Artemis started laughing. Justin soon understood why. He actually did not tag Artemis because the game ended just before Justin tagged Artemis.
“I’ll get you next time,” Justin jokingly said to him, “You and your rotten brother Alex.” Artemis and Alex laughed and the three of them started a little punching fight.
*
“Man, this homework for History of Ghosts is so dumb and stupid!” Mairi complained as she flopped onto her bed, “ I mean what’s the point of telling him about our families?”
“The point is to............, actually, I don’t know what the point is for once,” Alaya replied, “usually it is at the beginning of the year the teachers ask for a report on you and your family so they can tell what you’re like, where you come from, that sort of stuff. But in the second term? I have no clue why he’s doing it now.”
“Oh well, the only thing to do is to finish it, hand it in, and get a good grade on it.” Mairi responded, “ what do you mean you have no parents!” she shrieked suddenly, reading over Alaya’s shoulder, “you never mentioned it before! Why! I thought we told each other everything!”Alaya calmly replied that it was kind of uncomfortable to talk about so she and her brothers agreed to not speak a lot about it. She might tell Mairi about it later, but not now and could they please drop it!
They wrote in silence and petted the dogs for quite a few moments. Just as Alaya was opening her mouth, they heard a knock on the door. There was a quick scramble to hide the dogs as the person knocked again. Alaya called out “just a minute” and continued to help Mairi. Finally they opened the door, it was Justin, Artemis and Alex.
“Man you guys gave us a huge scare, we thought it was the dorm adviser checking up on us, making sure we weren’t getting into trouble.” Mairi and Alaya sighed breathlessly, “we need a special knock that only you guys know so that we know it’s you and don’t go into a mad rush to put away the mutts for no good reason.” They eventually agreed on a knock pattern and the guys left for bed as the girls got ready for bed.
“That Justin dude is pretty hot isn’t he?” Mairi asked looking at the door the boys had left through a few moments earlier.
“Huh? Oh yeah, I guess.” Alaya replied blushing slightly, “Hey the winter ball is coming up in about two weeks, shortly before we get off school. I’m planning on asking to go to the nearest town to buy a dress; want to come?” Mairi nodded yes. “ Oh and Mistletoe asked if she could come too if a teacher agreed. I said yes. You ok with that?” Mairi just shrugged and they both fell asleep thinking about a beautiful gown they would buy if a teacher said yes.
