• Michael’s Friday…

Birds are chirping outside on a soft, misty dew Spring morning. I’m actually feeling pretty good today. I’m awake before the annoying alarm clock goes off. This is going to be a great day.

I turn the alarm off before it buzzes so it doesn’t pierce my ears when I get out of bed. I stretch casually and grimace a little from where I over did it last night working out with the weights. I must ingest enough protein in order to build muscle instead of burn muscle. I must not have flexed enough before going to bed. I have my homework ready, I know what to say to Ashley, and today they have the taco salad bar in the lunch cafeteria. I love Fridays!

I get partially dressed before doing my morning business in the shared bathroom of a family of five. What do you know, there’s no line this morning! I made it before everyone else. This really is a great day!

After the bathroom visit, I head downstairs to eat breakfast. I love breakfast. Ever since I started high school, I seem to eat more and more. My parents say it has to do with me reaching my growth spurt. They must be right, because I am 5’ 11” already feel like I’m starving all the time.

As I’m pouring milk over top of my cereal and getting a protein bar, I look around and notice I am the only one at the breakfast table. Where is everyone? I turn the news on to see what kind of weather we are having today and also find out what creep to watch out for the day.

I’m sitting there half-way listening and half-way thinking more about what I’m going to say to Ashley again. She’s so cool and we share a lot of the same interests. I can’t seem to get her off my mind. I can hardly wait to see her! She’s not the prettiest girl in school, but hey, her mind and soul is beautiful and that’s what I really love about her. She is one of the most creative and artistic person I know of. She seems to know how to bring the best out in me and we never run out of things to talk about. I’m supposed to ask her out for our first date today. I’ve been pondering all week. What was that on the news? Oh, something to just ruin the moment of my thought process. Again, I notice, where is everyone? Where are my annoying, younger twin brothers? Where is mom? Dad is usually gone already by now anyway.

I finish up and think they must all be sick. Seems there is a lot of sickness going around everywhere. Don’t they know that taking vitamin C and eating a balanced diet helps keep that away? Sometimes, I wish people would read a book or peruse the internet and do what’s healthy for them. I want to be a Fitness Trainer some day so I’m a health nut. I better put my dishes away so mom won’t fuss at me later.

I get in my Mom’s old car she lets me drive to school and find the right music to listen to on the way to school. I’m thinking again about how to approach Ashley at school. I’m a little nervous, but we have been friends for two years now and she sends signals out that she might like me too.

I drive into a graveyard parking lot at school and now I know something is wrong. Either I am still sleeping or could it be….. Saturday!!!!!! My cell phone’s clock confirms it. It is Saturday. This will be the most memorable day for the rest of my life. The day I woke up thinking it was Friday and turns out to be the weekend! This works out better, because now I can have more time talking to Ashley today and maybe, just maybe, today will be our first date! The best non-Friday in my life!
