• Kida had tons of questions to ask Fenrir when he woke: What was that thing he became? Are there others like him and if there are who are they? She pace around the tavern for hours worried for him, she then realized, she loved him. She couldn’t explain it but something about him reminded her of Ryvius. Kida heard a noise behind her and turned to see Fenrir standing her, almost immediately a stream of questions issued from her mouth. Fenrir was overwhelmed and soon after yelled, “ONE QUESTION AT A TIME!!!!” Kida stood there and then thought of a question to ask, “What are you and what was that thing you became?” Fenrir sighed and said, “I knew this would happen and you have a right to know, I am the Harbinger, a forerunner if you will, once I reach a certain age my full power will be unleashed and depending on me mankind will either enter into a utopian age of peace and harmony or will be damned to a never-ending winter. That thing you saw was a Reaper, a stealer of souls, he is as much apart of me as you live and breathe now. He is one of three other personalities that dwell in me; the other is the Angelus and the Harbinger.” Kida stood there dumbfounded at what he had said, but then asked again, “Why were you born like this?” A cloud briefly passed over Fenrir’s brow as he answered, “This began with the making of this and all other worlds. Wolves were the first race to dwell on the earth; one of the gods grew jealous of them and created his own race, man. He was quickly found out and was punished by creating a third race, the Reapers, to destroy his first creation. Then out of pity for the humans the gods created the Angelus “Angels” to guide them to the afterlife, but tensions grew between the five races and war soon erupted. Sides clashed and many died until one day I was born, the culmination of all the races, the Harbinger. I slaughtered many of my brethren in the name of the gods to stop the war, but only succeeded in making it worse. In the end I was condemned myself to wander the earth for all eternity, being reborn again and again, until the Day of Judgment, when my actions will determine the fate of all life, including the gods themselves.” Fenrir finished his story and sat down and held his head in his hands. Kida walked up to him and held his head up and softly said, “I’m not afraid of what you are or what you will do, but I will stand by you to the end.” A smile slowly came to his lips as he replied, “I would like that very much.” They looked at each other for what seemed like hours and then Fenrir did something Kida didn’t expect, he stood up and held her in his arms. Kida felt her cheeks burn as she stood there in his embrace and then she did something even he didn’t expect, she looked up at him and he looked back, and she kissed him.
