It was the most unusual thing that ever happened in Jessie's life. She held still for at least nine minutes pondering it. She wanted to go and cry in her room but she couldn't. She had to stand there stunned at who called and asked a very interesting question. Jessie knew many people were asked it, but not her. her mother came in and said, "Do you know who ate all the cookies?". Jessie was too stunned to answer just then. Her mother stood there very angrily for Jessie's bad manners. Finally Jessie said,"What?". Her mother left and asked other people. Jessie now able to move, went to her room and wrote in her journal that she had just been asked out by the hottest guy at her middle school. She hung up on him right after the question because she didn't know how to answer. She was only 12 years old and she was a mormon girl. She wasn't allowd to go out with anyone until she was 16. If she said yes and her mother found out, she would be grounded for a year.
The next day, Jessie got ready for school and was nervous to see Jackson, the guy who asked her out. She needed to decline, but she didn't want to. She had a huge crush on him. She even daydreamed about her kissing him durring class. Her mother said boyfriends were just distractions from school work. Jessie thought that having a boyfired might be kind of fun. Then she remembered the other people who had gotten dumped and how they cried all day. She thought it was quite anoying. Jessie thought how she would feel if she got dumped by Jackson. She thought she might cry like the rest of the girls who gat dumped by their boyfriends. She thought how everyone would start calling her a baby for crying all day. Jessie dicided to say no to Jackson. She thoought it would be kind of hard though. She had a huge crush on him.
She met her friends before school stated. Jessie asked for help on saying no to Jackson. They were a little surprized that she was asked out by the hottest guy in school. The were even more surprized that she was going to say no to him. They forgot that she was a member of the mormon church. Jessie's best friend, Sidney, said "well, you could start by saying you are happy that he asked you out. You would love to go out with him, but You can't because you are a mormon girl. You can't go out with anyone til you are 16 years old."
"I think that would be good" said Jessie.
Jackson was now walking to Jessie and her good friends. He said "why did you hang up on me? I wanted to know your responce. Will you go out with me?"
She was so nervous that she couldn't speek a word. Sidney saved her by saying "She can't. Jessie would love to go out with you but she can't because she is a mormon girl". Sidney was always the braver of the two of them. Jessie was so greatfull to Sidney.
"I understand." Jackson said. He waked away and Jessie was so sad that she had just let down the cance of a lifetime. The bell rang for class to start and the school was filled with noise again. Jessie hurried to her first class. Her friends cheered her up by saying things like "at least he wasn't mad" and "mabe he will try to ask you out when you're 16". Jessie felt much better after hearing that her friends would try to help her even when they had to hurry to their classes ont he other side of the school.
