The wind howled in the night. Not a creature was stirring in the middle of the night. The buildings stood tall over the world, towering over the smaller buildings and the occasional homeless person who had taken residence near the base of a structure. A quick gust heralds the arrival of something else.
A man stood at the top of a flag post. He wore all black; black combat boots, black gloves, a black coat that reached his ankles, black shirt, and black pants. All of which, were made of leather and was skintight. His ran his fingers through his short, unkempt, silver hair. He looked through a pair of binoculars into the adjacent building. He stared for a few moments, and then put his hand up to his ear, pressing a small device inside of it. There was a crackling noise, then a voice shot through.
“What is it, Tristan?” the voice was a woman’s.
“I have the confirmed target in his office. Looks like there is heavy security, as well. I’m not sure how “clean” I can make this one.” Tristan looked through the binoculars again.
“Well, be as clean as possible. Remember, you do have the right to kill everyone in there who is in league with him.” Tristan smiled, revealing a single, sharp, vampiric tooth. “But, try to show some restraint. We don’t want you to just go around and shoot up the place… again.” Tristan sighed.
“Okay. I’ll show some restraint.” He was not pleased. “Tristan out.” The link closed and all noise on the other side stopped. Tristan stood up and put his binoculars in his coat. He pulled out two small handguns and checked the clips for both. He was ready. Two firearms fully loaded, the element of surprise, and awesome looks? What could make a better assassin?
Tristan jumped down to a window ledge on the targeted building. He kicked in the window and put his guns at the ready as he jumped into the room. No one here, except for the parrot in the corner. Tristan ran to the door and kicked it open, pointing his guns in front of himself. People were yelling. The hallway ran left and right, not forwards and backwards. Tristan pointed a gun in each direction and waited for someone to come and bother him. People came spilling into the hallway, all wielding guns of some sort. Did this bother Tristan? Not at all. He enjoyed a good killing spree. Tristan just shot into the hallways, killing the men, and moved to his right.
Handguns have the advantage when you raid a building. Their small size and lightweight makes it easy to move quickly, compared to having a sniper or assault rifle. One with a handgun can also use the gun to perform a quick melee attack, allowing for “hit and run” tactics. The only real disadvantage is that handguns have less ammo then other weapons. But, that teaches you to not shot like a manic and only take shots you know will connect. So, in a word, handguns are better weapons then other weapons. Tristan, however, uses handguns because they help his look. No one understood this, but as long as he got his job done, no one really cared.
Tristan turned a corner and beat the butt of his gun into the face of a surprised guard. Tristan shot the man, and fired into another crowd coming towards him. Their blood made beautiful tapestries of death on the walls. What a waste of good blood, Tristan though to himself. Tristan went a few more paces only to be shot at. Tristan ducked back behind a wall and gunfire whizzed by. It fired in sprays of ten to twenty bullets, stopped for a few seconds, and then continued. The gun was either automated, or the guy operating it was stupid. Tristan waited for the moment of peace, then dived out from behind the wall and aimed. Nothing was there. Not a gun, or a person. Nothing. Tristan stared in bewilderment at the strange phenomenon. A red light glowed and the gunfire started up again. Tristan moved behind his wall and waited. What the hell is going on? How can nothing shot bullets? Unless. I get it now. Tristan waited for the pause, and ducked out and fired into the empty hallway. His bullets connected to something, as there was a clanking noise. Tristan waited. What looked like a mirage appeared, then a robot stood before him, riddled with holes. The robot fell down with a loud thud. Tristan stepped over the robot and opened the door behind it. Tristan rolled into the room and fired at the guards surrounding a man sitting in a chair.
This man was the intended target. Michael Savage. He clapped.
“Well done, my boy. To think that someone as young as you would be able to kill my guards and one of my robots. I must give you credit, vampire. You really do amaze me.” Tristan spat at Michael’s feet.
“Don’t ever call me a vampire.” It was now that Michael noticed something that would be unusual for a vampire. Vampires had yellow eyes with slim, reptilian pupils. The young man now before him had red eyes with more humanistic pupils. However, many characteristics of the vampire remained in the man. Pointed ears, lavender skin, silver hair, fangs, and extend nails. And, the vampire fashion sense.
“Well, if you are not a vampire, what are you?” Michael had a slight tone of superiority in his voice. Vampires were considered nothing more then trash in the world of today. “You can’t be a hybrid, but you’re not human either. So, if you were to pick a side, which would it be?” Michael had a smug look that disgusted Tristan. Tristan leapt over the desk and landed next to Michael in the blink of an eye.
Tristan grabbed Michael’s head and pushed it away to reveal his neck. One second was all it took. One quick second of impulse to set in, and Tristan would become that which he hated. Tristan sank his teeth into Michael’s neck; the crimson blood flew into the air like little red fireworks. Michael screamed in terror as this fiend of the night tore into his neck, getting every last ounce of blood that he could reach. Tristan’s hold grew stronger and he dug into Michael’s muscular tissue. This sent more blood spraying out into the office. Tristan ripped out teeth out of Michael’s skin, sending an eruption of blood gushing into the air. Tristan stared at the insect that was squirming to stay alive. Michael couldn’t even scream anymore. Tristan licked his lips and knelt down beside his victim. Tristan moved closer to Michael’s ear and whispered into it.
“I choose whatever I want.”
