• The palace, the village...all in ruins.
There was nothing left, everything was burned down.
The army was not satisfied; they did not kill the one they were looking for.
They did not kill the young princess.

The man heard the news of the palace and the army, he could not believe it.
He looked at the young princess who started out the window, of her new home, at the open blue sky.
She giggled at a white cloud that caught t her eye, the man smiled.
The princess turned and looked at the man.
The princess’ wide brown eyes filled the man with joy....but it filled the man with heart break.
How could the man say about what happened that day to the princess if she asked at an older age?
He knew that he said that he wouldn’t tell her, but he knew that he couldn’t keep the truth from her.
The man wanted to tell the princess how wonderful her mother was and how beautiful the kingdom was.
The young princess looked back out the window to stare at the one cloud that floated pass....and again it made her giggle.

The black shy of night came again, the man had put the princess to sleep and the man stood at the window and stared at the glowing stars. The stars sparkled and shone in many patterns.
The man walked away from the window and sat in a chair.
As he sat there quietly in the dark room...he slowly fell asleep.
The man woke the next morning, the sun had just hit the horizon and the sky was a mixture of reds and oranges.
The man stood from his chair and went to check on the princess.
The young princess was fast asleep. She was still as she dreamed.
The man stood in the door way and just looked at the princess, he wondered if he was able to take care of the princess....to protect this precise child....as he know knew that it was him against an army
