• Screaming...Ground shaking...Heavy footfalls...Blood...oh, the blood was everywhere
Everything in front of Elizabeth was in slow motion...she saw the monsters rip apart her fellow villagers in slow motion...she saw her village getting trashed in slow motion...she saw her mother getting killed in slow motion...her mother...oh no... "Mother! No No NO!! Leave her alone!" A gut-wrenching sob escaped Elizabeth as she ran forwards to help her mother. Suddenly, strong hands gripped her fore arms and made her stand still like a prisoner, watching her mother getting devoured by those horrible beings, all of it in front of her eyes. Elizabeth could not believe what was happening. Everything was ordinary before, like it always was, and suddenly she had heard a terrible roar, the roar of a hunter hunting his prey, and the monsters had invaded the village, plowing through everything that came to be in their way - if it was a human that was in their way, they ate them in one single gulp as though the humans were not more than fish. Elizabeth looked over her shoulder to see who was holding her and let out a huge sigh of relief when she saw her brother Shaun unhurt. Shaun opened his mouth as though he wanted to say something but what came out instead of his normal voice was a cry of pain, unlike anything that she had ever heard. The grips on her hand loosed, freeing her from the spot where she was standing. But Elizabeth didn't move. She stood at the same spot, unable to believe her eyes, eyes that were telling her that her brother had been shot through the heart from the back with an arrow. Suddenly, Elizabeth felt a bone-deep weariness, a weariness that made her whole body cry for all of this misery to end. Elizabeth relented - she wrenched out the arrow that was sticking out of her brother's back, hating the sick wet sound that it made and then plunged the arrow shaft into her stomach.

I gasped when I awoke from my dreaming state. I was relieved to find that all of the horrors in my dreams were just that - dreams. There was nothing to be scared of, no monsters to be petrified of. But why the pain? And why the wetness? Oh gosh, the pain was unbearable. I looked down and saw my night shirt stained red. And suddenly I understood - I was dying...Of course...I suffered from a sleep disorder...I was dying...I did this to myself...with a kitchen knife...in my sleep...The absurdity of it all made me want to laugh, but i didn't have the time because my life was ebbing away until I was slowly...slowly...slowly fading into the gathering darkness.
