The griffin suddenly dove down swiftly, landing in front of the vampire; screeching loudly the griffin swiped at him as Scarlet jumped off of his back madder then hell at what he had convinced her to do with him, but mostly mad at her self. Still if he wouldn't have started, she wouldn't have succumbed to him. “Looks like I have found you this time;” she said frowning, her sword clutched tightly in her hands ready to strike at a moments notice. Jumping back, he slid a few feet. Talons of such a large beast could really do some damage. Smiling, he looked up at her from his crouched position. "You hunt well my dear!" Carefully glancing an eye at the beast, to her sword and then to the prey he will be forced to skip out on. The griffin crouched down in a position as if he were going to attack and hissed angrily at him staring him down wildly. Scarlet grinned deviously, “I have to be to hunt you;” she spoke coldly to him, so he would know it was not a compliment! Huh, huh, ha. “You think yourself strong for such fruit less acts? Do you really think you can save them all?” Staring her down, he was looking deep into her heart, searching her soul. While eyes locked with hers, he took up a hand full of dirt and threw it at the griffin. "BYE." With a playful skip and jump he took off into the orchard.
Scarlet knew her partner would recover as she lunged into the orchard after him. Even more enraged than before and bent on finally ending it for him. “Come back here you coward. So you're scared now huh?” She called out to him as she followed him in. Laughing hysterically as he skipped into the orchard with her at his heels. “How lovely it was to be wanted so much by a woman;” he thought to himself. He leaped into the air and began running along the tops of the freshly pruned plum trees. From one branch to the next, picking a few of the soft ones along the way and tossing them behind him. "CHASE ME CHASE ME COME FOR ME NOW, I BETTER MOVE FAST SINCE YOU DON’T KNOW HOW!" Enthralled with laughter and enjoying himself, he did not see the branch that snagged him and made him fall hitting the ground pretty hard. Scarlet could see him better atop the plum trees and moved more quickly towards him dodging the fruit, then smiled devilishly as she saw him fall pushing herself harder and harder to reach him before he got up; her sword ready to slide into his chest. So close she was he hissed at her showing his fangs and true nature. "Please don't kill me, can't you see I have children!" HA HA HA, his madness frothing at the lips as he started to run. She seemed so close he could smell her breath, "Have you brush your teeth my dear?" Oh the pleasure he took in tormenting her. That large beast will make a very nice banquet for me.
Scarlet swung at him, obviously missing and screamed angrily as she did and threw her sword down. Tired of running after him and living the life that she was now, when she could very well be living better than she was. A lot better. She knelt down, refusing to go after him now and silent tears fell from her sapphire eyes. A fine slice across the back of his clothing. A new scar! The fire that burns when reality sends a chill through his dead body. "You could be living so much better then me?" His eyes went red. Ghosting about her in a blur, he saw the tears stream down her cheeks. Kneeling beside her, he kissed her cheek tasting the salt of her tears and the softness of her flesh. “Blood is my life, but your captivating cries make me helpless!” Scarlet sighed and looked away from him, “don't touch me!” She was so upset with herself; for being a pawn in his little "game" that he had constructed from the start of her parent's demise. She had been played for a fool and knew it now. “Just go away;” she said as she wept. Tragedy, chaos, a few flash backs of his own mother. "Turn and walk away, one less hunter and a world that is yours for the taking," his mother would often say. For 802 years he never stopped to feel what nature was presenting before him, but that was before HER. Long before he would meet, “Scarlet.” He never had to think through a situation like this, it was usually to the death and that was that. This time was different. Standing up; he paced about her unsure of what he was doing here now...
The young woman took in a deep breath and stood up, staring at him. “You will no longer have to worry about me. I'll not waste my life any longer chasing someone I aim to kill, and more than likely be killed by the very one I hunt.” She sighed and stared at him, then looked to her sword. “Take it if you like, I won't be needing it anymore;” she said as she looked into his eyes unafraid of what he might try to do. There was no pleasure in his heart. To know death without actually taking ones last breath. The anger he felt. Such sadness that over took him. “It never ended like this before. The guide book never covered this kind of scenario. Never has some one put me such a dilemma.....” He pulled her into his embrace, staring back into her eyes fangs bared to the hilt. Whispering, "YOU! What is it about you that hold's me back?" Scarlet did not offer him any kind of resistance, as he pulled her into his arms. Her eyes slowly moved to his fangs, then back up into his eyes once more and were indifferent. “I don't know… Perhaps you should kill me;” she said in an empty tone reaching up a little and stroking the ends of his hair without changing the blank look on her face. “I don't know what I am to do now... I never thought I'd be saying this but… I surrender to this foolish chase. I’ll never truly catch you. You are so much more skilled than I could ever hope to be.” Her touch was like sunlight warming the new day. He stared further into her eyes, only once glancing back to see where her pet was. Closing his eyes for a second, it seems that all the seasons had past them by. He ran the back of his right pointer down her cheek as he drew her closer into him. "Forever with me, you will know the night." Softly tearing into her flesh, he embraced her with his fangs. Such sweet nectar was the warm taste of her blood. Red droplets fell from his eyes.
Her eyes widened as he spoke and began to struggle, screaming for her griffin just before his fangs sank into her neck. She stiffened and grabbed his hair tightly pulling on it as she was helpless within his dark kiss. She felt her life fading away and was now crying, wishing to die instead of live as he did; preying off of the blood of mortals and hiding from the sun which she loved. Her knees became weak and her body limp, as he drew more of her blood. Ripping free; a spatter of blood to the wind. He knew how much he could take before killing his prey. The way she struggled surged through his body. She could never be like him, nor could he take from her what she does not offer. Laying her body down on the floor of the orchard, he wiped his lips with the back of his sleeve. “You are still free to touch the sun, but I will always be chained away from you in my darkness.” Seeing that her large..... VERY LARGE pet was coming his way he dashed off behind a tree where he could still watch her. His head hurt from where she had pulled his hair.
Scarlet laid there motionless with her eyes closed. Soon her griffin was at her side. Lying down be side her, nuzzling her trying to get her to wake up. His efforts were failing. He growled seeing the fang marks on her neck and stood up, wondering if the one responsible were still around. He was still around, still so close. What did it matter now, she had given up and was their nothing left here but broken dreams? Looking towards where she lay one last time he went to walk away from her. Slowly he marched off into the orchard..... Then an idea popped into his mind, "WHAT IF...” He ran back to where she laid post haste. Staring at the giant beast now before him, he pondered on how he was going to get her body away from him. "She's sick and needs to come with me!" The griffin hissed at him once more and looked to his companion making sure she was still unconscious; then he looked back to the vampire and stood on his hind legs transforming into a human like form, his eyes glowing yellow from anger and hate. “You did this to her! I’ll kill you if it's the last thing I do if she dies;” he said folding his arms but standing in a defensive position.
