    10 Years in the Past

    "..." Dante's legs hung limply under him, as two large Deku Guards dragged him onto the platform.

    "Your crimes are a heresy to our village. You have broken our most sacred law!" A voice boomed. A Deku sat at a balcony high above the platform.

    "I did what I had to...." Dante replied feebly. His hope was practically broken. He knew that the judge would not let him go.

    "Hear me. I did what was needed to be done to save our village. And for that you prosecute me?" Dante said, standing up onto his two feet. This was his last glimmer of hope.

    "You have been tried and found guilty. Your punishment will be to suffer the damages you caused." Her echoing voice seemed like it crushed that last hope, shattering it into a fine dust.

    The crack of lightning and a lone scream echoed through the night as one.

    The deku woke alone in his anguish, no comfort to be found.

    “I will drive you from my memories forever….”

    His eyes closed once again, and his head fell to his pillow. He had no rest that night.

    You are here alone again
    In your sweet insanity
    All too calm, you hide yourself from reality
    Do you call it solitude? Do you call it liberty?
    When all the world turns away to leave you lonely

    He walked through the forest, stumbling weakly. Blood oozed from his forehead, dripping to the ground in globs. His own hands were washed in his own blood, to forever be stained there.

    “Why won’t you leave me?!!!” the small deku screamed in rage at unknown voices. He fell to his knees, crying.

    The fields are filled with desires
    All voices crying for freedom
    But all in vain they will fade away
    There's only you to answer you, forever
    -----------

    He bashed his head into the boulder, resulting in a sickening crack as well as enlarging the wound on his forehead. He smiled, finally finding his salvation.

    He fell to the ground, the same smile on his face.


    In blinded mind you are singing
    A glorious hallelujah
    The distant flutter of angels
    They're all too far, too far to reach for you

    The deku had one solitary thought before he fell into peaceful, restful, sleep.

    “Who am I?”

    I am here alone again
    In my sweet serenity
    Hoping you will ever find me in any place
    I will call it solitude when all my songs fade in vain
    In my voice, far away to eternity
