Flashing lights. Going red then blue then red again, the never ending cycle rerunning itself across the miserable and goring scene. The only one, who seemed at thought through the rush of running police officers and bystanders out side of the yellow CASION tape, was a pale and sad faced teenager. No one could see his features over the blood stains on his face cover almost every inch of him. The only thing going through the boys mind, Andrew, was the day’s events.
The days started like any other, good friends, the hottest girl in school as my girlfriend, and freedom from his nagging- but somehow adoring- parents. But in the middle of the day when the sun started to shine, there was a sharp heart stopping pain in my chest. The school told me to go home -which I gladly did- my girlfriend, Lauren, accompanied me to see I made it safe. Then when she closed all the blinds –I had said the sunlight was bothering me- and I went to my bedroom, I saw something that I hopped would never happen. The bare skin on the nape of her neck looked like steak. I had heard old stories of how my ancestors thought themselves to be vampires but I never thought it was true.
I blacked out only remember a lot of bloodshed, my parents getting home, and more bloodshed. When I woke up it was by a fat cop that patrolled my neighborhood who had woken me in the middle of my living room, covered in blood. They thought that I was attacked by the person who killed my girlfriend and my parents, when they asked who I was, I played stupid pretending I had amnesia. So far they left me alone-out of my request- and have been trying to get the bystanders and reporters to buzz off.
I had remembered what my parents had told me long ago, when I was about twelve.

“My ancestors -which are your ancestors-, believed they were vampires. They drank human blood and had supper strength. It’s a very silly thing really, but if you ever find a craving for someone and think of them as food, you will probably attack them. If you ever do, and you kill someone, play dumb they will think you have amnesia. Your father and I will be there if that ever happens.” My mother sounded so sure that day. “Oh and from now on you must ware this ring,” she handed me a gold ring with a blood red diamond on it, “it’s the family crest it simplifies you a man in this family.”
“Like a Bartmistfa?”
“No Andrew, were not Jewish.” She left it like that and walked away from me, leaving dumb founded.

How funny how the one day I took off the stupid family crest, this happened! I now had my ring on -it had never got too small or too big for my slender fingers- now the people around me did not look like food, more like the concerned people I had grown up with. It was odd, how could I be a vampire and not even known about it? No I don’t even remember what happened so it couldn’t be me!
But I knew it was. In the back of my mind I always knew there was something wrong with me. The since were so clear it was unbelievable! I always had stake with a pool of blood around it, I had always been stronger than my superiors, and matured at 12-already done with my puberty-and stopped ageing even the slightest bit after my 17th birthday. And now every time I fidgeted with my ring and took it off I felt so thirsty it was like swallowing a hot iron, and it only got worse when I look at some ones neck. But a vampire? A fictional monster that killed humans to survive? How such a thing could actually exist? I didn’t know, and didn’t want to.
A man walked up to me and offered me a thick wool blanket. Like the other times when the police offered one I looked at his coldly and said “no”, my voice as cold as my face. This man did not look like an officer, he didn’t have a uniform. When he sat down I realized he was a sociologist. He sat on the same step as me, uncomfortably close enough so that we were touching. He seemed comfortable and that made me want to ring out his through. Why am I so angry?
“Hello Andrew.” He said it comfortably. It looked like he wanted me to say ‘hello’ back but I only glared at his wrinkled face. He was skinny and in his mid 50s, bald at the top. He sighed. “This is a bad start Andrew; I thought you would be thankful to have someone to talk to.” There was fake sadness in his voice not yet sarcasm but close. “I bet you already know why I’m here-“
I broke him off with a low growling sound coming from the back of my trough. When have I ever done that? It was more like instinct then anything I actually didn’t know how I did it. “I know you’re a stupid shrink here to talk about what happened tonight, am I right?” Of course I was right! I could see strait threw him!
“Yes you are very right, but don’t worry I don’t want to be here anymore than you want me to so let’s get this over with so I can get my money and leave,” these words came out into a hiss threw his teeth.
