• Nerissa heard the mail hit the floor and the mail jeep drive away. She walked to the door, anxious to hear from her love, Aiden James, currently away at war. She looked at the floor, covered in a few bills and other micellanious mail. She organized the envelopes into a stack and shuffled through the stack. She came across a letter adressed "Mrs. Aiden James Laurou". She, nervously, opened the letter and unfolded the paper inside. She took a breath and read it to herself.

    "My dearest Nerissa,
I've been away at war for so long. I miss you dearly. If you are reading this, I'm at home now..."

Nerissa looked at the letter and felt tears well up in her eyes. She knew exactly what he meant. She continued to read.

"...I knew this wasn't what you wanted. I remember when i was departing for the first time. You had tears in your eyes, praying for me to be safe and to come home to you. Your last words to me were "I love you. Come home to me in 8 months." I'm sorry that I can't come home to you. I'm always with you though. I love you dearly. I'm sorry you have to cope alone. Talk to my family if you need support.

Aiden James Laurou; your love for life."

She stared at the sheet, expressionless. She felt hot tears streaming down her face, in constant rivers. She wiped her eyes and dropped the letter. She ran up to her room, fell on her bed and cried for hours, listening to 'Remembering Sunday'. She mumbled the lyrics between her sobs.

"I'm not coming back. I've done something so terrible. I'm terrified to speak 'cause you'd expect that from me. I'm mixed up. I'll be blunt. Now, the rain is just washing you out of my hair."

She sobbed harder as she came to the next few lines.

"And out of my mind, keeping an eye on the world, from so many thousands of feet off the ground. I'm over you now. I'm at home in the clouds, towering over your head"

She stared at her pillow as the song ended once more. She sat up, wiping her darkened eyes of her eyeliner. Nerissa wept for a few more minutes, thinking about Aiden. She stared at the wall, where her wedding picture was hung up. She twirled the diamond on her left ring finger, wiping tears with one of her hands. She walked into the hallway, listening to her own sobs echoing in the house. She took a few steps forward, coming to Aiden's study. She opened the door, slowly. A mirage of Aiden entered the room, sitting behind the desk, smiling at Nerissa. "Hello baby" he said, walking up to Nerissa and kissing her lightly. She smiled as he walked back to his desk. She walked in, slowly, coming up to his desk. Nerissa sat on the desk, next to Aiden. He looked up at her and smiled. "What are you doing?" He asked, stroking her knee. She leaned in to kiss him and he suddenly faded. Nerissa caught herself in mid air. Feeling the depression hit her again, she got up off the desk and searched through the drawers of his desk. She found his code to his vault. She sat there, in his chair, thinking about her decision she was about to make. She left the code on his desk and left the room with a small click.

She thought about it for hours, eventually turning to days, then weeks. One day, she came home from work, a bit tipsy and tired. Nerissa walked upstairs and found herself going into Aiden's study once more. It was the first visit since she learned of his parting. She looked at the code and finally decided to open the vault. She grabbed the small pistol, sitting on the shelf. She looked and noticed there was 1 bullet left. She stared at it for an hour, fighting tears. She finally put it to her head. "I guess I'll go home now." The shot rang and Nerissa fell to the floor. With her last breath, she mumbled "I'm coming home Aiden."
