When the world was young and still developing, one small child travelled along the strips of the colours gliding atop of us now. Passing shades of blue and hues of red, the young mage came in contact with a shell of gray. Curiosity came and went as the matter drew him closer. Soon, coming in contact with it. It was bigger than he; that much was visible. Placing one single foot on the matter, he found it to be hard. Like rock that one would find when traveling the Belt of Colours much as he was. Bringing his other foot to settle on the massive rock, he found it to be able to hold his weight of only a few twenty pounds. “It’s solid!” he exclaimed, almost surprised by the thought. Moving further in, he looked around. There seemed to be a funny looking animal down in a crater of the rock. Running, he called down to the animal.
The strange animal turned its head. Its body was huge, shell-like almost. There were colours on its body. Like those of the Belt. “Hello.” It said, the voice deep and strong. “What are you doing here?” He asked. The little child stared at the animal. It had to be at least thirty times larger than he.
With a weak voice, the small boy told the animal why he was there. “I was walking along and I saw this gray patch to the side. I wanted to investigate for it was a colour I had never seen before. And figured that there should be more of the colours like the Belt of Colours.” The animal seemed to take his answer well and just nodded. As the boy passed him, the animal seemed to just be off on its way. Again, the small mage was alone. True to word, he looked around. Surely there should be colour on a rock so big as this. There should be colour to make it pretty and eye opening. Maybe others could even come and visit it. Even live there. Continuing on his journey across the vast area, he soon came to a woman – so he was not the only one of his kind here. There were tears in her eyes. With a long face, he placed his hand upon her shoulder. “Why do you cry so much?” He asked her. When she gave no reply, he backed away a bit and just stood there, watching her. She cried and she cried and soon, her tears left bodies big enough to call our oceans.
From all around, animals came and joined the woman and the small mage. Piling handfuls of soggy gray rock on top of each other, soon islands were formed. Ostriches flew down from the sky, landing down into the muck. As the animals tried to help him out, he refused, telling them, “No, I am here. It is my duty. To bring this place to life.” With that, he stuck his head into the muck and formed the continents of the world.
Small hands took up a handful of rock and dirt, meshing it into a little ball. Taking colour from the Belt of Colours, he made it an orange tinge with a red tint and placed it into the sky of ocean blue. And with it, the earth was created, filled with living animals and all of its surroundings.
