yeah you wanna make sure you have a backround layer thats white, or whatever you want it to be.
And it might be helpful to find some coloring tutorials on DA. Some tutorials on how to draw different features (eyes, hair, etc) might not be a bad idea either. Feel free to PM me if you want me to help you find a couple good ones. =]

- When layering on photoshop, make sure to have a white layer as the background, so you don't have the grey checks. It helps a lot.
